For some physicians, dictation is just a way of life. It may seem like the transformation
to using an EMR is simply too painful. HemiData has integrated the EMR with a digital
dictation system that allows the physician to continue to dictate their notes. The dictation
is then routed to the transcriptionist, who then populates the Electronic Medical Record
with the values supplied in the dictation.
This solution can be customized to accomodate the needs of the clinical staff that
need to dictate. The EMR can be, independently, configured to accomodate the needs
of the staff. Using this approach, practices can build a bridge between current work styles
and new computerized work methods. Physicians can dictate their notes and find the end
product added directly to the EMR. The practice can realize the benefit of instant
availability when the transcription is complete.
Deployment of this approach provides the physicians with a hand held digital recorder.
The physician periodically trades his/her memory card in for a new one. The staff member
can then sync the dictation with the dictation system. The dictation system then routes
the audio files to the appropriate transcriptionist, who enters the information into the
EMR.
This unique application approach helps the practice move forward to the world of electronic
records, while providing the fewest disruptions to the office staff.
MD-Journal application provides the ability to restrict access to patient information. Each
healthcare professional has a separate user account. The account profile defines which
portions of the patient profile can be viewed or updated. Each practice designates
practice administrator who is responsible for controlling access within the practice.
